Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team just expanded the investigation to another individual, and it’s not someone we would have ever expected.
The Russian investigation is really heating up.
Last month, one of Trump’s former campaign managers, Paul Manafort, was brought up on 12 charges of crimes against the United States. The charges including launder money, unregistered agent of a foreign principal, false and misleading US Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) statements, false statements, and seven counts of failure to file reports of foreign bank and financial accounts.
But he wasn’t the only one who was mixed up in all of this. Former Trump campaign aide Carter Page claims he “probably” discussed Russia with another former Trump staffer, George Papadopolous, by email.
Papadopolous, 30, a former foreign policy adviser from Trump’s campaign pleaded guilty over a month ago, according to previously secret records, to lying to the FBI to the FBI about his contact with Russian Officials.
Later, Trump’s lawyer, Attorney Jay Sekulow, came onto CNN host Wolf Blitzer’s show, and at no point denied that the Trump campaign worked with Russia. He did, however, say was that there’s nothing wrong with working with Russia.
What made his statement more interesting was the new details from Natalia Veselnitskaya, a Russian lawyer with links to the Kremlin who reportedly met with Trump Jr.
Back in July, information came out that Donald Trump Jr. met with a Russian lawyer connected to the Kremlin during the 2016 presidential election after being promised information that would be damaging to Hillary Clinton (even though Veselnitskaya denied possessing any such information, let alone promising to disclose anything.)
When asked why Trump’s campaign would have thought that, she went on to say, “It is quite possible that maybe they were longing for such an information. They wanted it so badly that they could only hear the thought that they wanted.”
Last week, Veselnitskaya cam forward with further details as to what happened in their shady conversation, claiming that Trump Jr. “indicated that a law targeting Russia could be re-examined if his father won the election and asked her for written evidence that illegal proceeds went to Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
CIA Director Mike Pompeo recently met with a conspiracy theorist that claims that instead of Russia hacking the DNC to manipulate our election, the DNC instead hacked themselves.
And who urged the CIA Director to meet with such an obvious idiot? Another idiot, President Donald Trump.
The number of individuals being probed by the Mueller investigation has been somewhat small so far, and the names we’ve heard have been of somewhat “smaller” people, like campaign staffers.
According to reports, however, that has now changed. Now, they’re investigating a Republican congressman.
Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.), has voiced his pro-Russian views in the past. Rohrabacher met with Michael Flynn in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 20, 2016, while Flynn was working on the Trump campaign.
According to The Hill:
Mueller’s team is reportedly looking at emails sent from Flynn’s lobbying group to Rohrabacher thanking the congressman for his role in the meeting.
The meeting was reportedly organized by Flynn’s lobbying group the Flynn Intel Group, and was also attended by Flynn’s son Michael G. Flynn, as well as his business partners Bijan Kian and Brian McCauley.
Combine all that with the fact that he met Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya just two months after Trump Jr. did, and you’ve got a very suspicious situation.
Do you think there was, as Trump put it, “no collusion,” or do you think that the GOP willingly tried to work with Russia to steal our country?
